MOT Stuff

Hi Guy's

Its that time again the cars due for its MOT. To be fair it went through with no problems at all last year I was a supprised as it had been laid up for four months while I was away working.

This year its going to need some welding, one of the antiroll bar mounts has rusted through and needs replacing. I have a mig welder but haven't used it since 1988 as I haven't had a car since then that's been rusty enough to require me to weld. Its done seven house moves with us and hasn't survived the process well. The regulator was damaged, it had been stepped on and the torch flex had been bent through 90 degrees so that it snapped the gas tube inside the flex.

I bought an new torch shroud, tips and a wire sleeve to refurb the touch. I was able to repair the gas tube but had to buy a new regulator. Its up and running now and I am begining to pick up the nack of welding again its quite enjoyable.

Also the car needs a new offside outer ball joint but its a press fit so I bought two track control arms from GSF. A bit of over kill but I drive 300 miles a week in this car now so its worth spending the money.

So unfortunately my project car is now my commuter car so I can only work on it in two day windows.

So the plan this weekend is to weld on the new mount then prep and paint with epoxy mastic, replace both track control arms and if there's time replace both front brake pipes.

We'll se how it goes.
